Tailored Support
The developmental services sector is in dire need of affordable housing across Ontario, with over 28,000 people waiting for housing-related support. This project can help meet that need by providing high-quality, deeply affordable supportive housing.
Where Independence Meets Opportunity
Supporting Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
The new 6-storey building will contain 19 affordable homes dedicated to adults with developmental disabilities. Residents will live independently, but Springboard will be there to provide tailored supports to individuals to ensure they’re able to thrive in their new homes.

FAQS
Have questions about the 976 College Street housing project? Find answers to common questions about the development, who it will support, how it will be funded, and what this means for the community. We’re committed to transparency and keeping you informed every step of the way.
1. How big is the proposed project?
The building will be six storeys and include 19 units. It’s been designed to follow existing zoning as closely as possible, requiring only a Minor Variance. The scale and use are in keeping with the surrounding neighbourhood.
2. Who will live at 976 College Street?
The building will provide affordable, private homes for adults with developmental disabilities who can live independently with minimal support. Springboard will work with residents to help them stay connected and engaged in their community through activities like volunteering, part-time work, and local events.
3. Will Springboard provide support to residents?
Yes. Springboard will provide individualized supports based on each resident’s needs. This may include help with daily tasks (e.g., shopping, meal prep), referrals to outside agencies, and support with mental health, education, employment, or finances.
Residents will also be encouraged to contribute to the community through volunteering, part-time work, and local involvement.
4. Will the new building be professionally managed?
Yes. The building will be professionally managed and maintained by an experienced property management team.
5. What is the project timeline?
Springboard submitted a Minor Variance application in April 2025 and will submit a Site Plan Control application in June 2025.
Construction is expected to begin in late Fall 2025 or early Spring 2026 and will take about 12 months.
6. How can I support this project?
Springboard is accepting donations to help bring this project to life. Your support will directly contribute to meeting a major need in Toronto: safe, affordable housing for adults with developmental disabilities.
Donations will help cover development costs and future essentials like on-site supports and resident programming—ensuring tenants not only have a home, but also the tools and services to thrive.
