People 1st Food Coop

Tell me a bit about yourself

I graduated from Centennial College in 2013. I have an advanced Diploma in Business Administration. I got my first entry level job working for the Yellow Pages as a Media Consultant/Account Manager.  My job was to sell to small businesses advertising solutions. After Yellow Pages I got an

opportunity at Alarm Force doing inside sales selling security systems to small businesses and consumers all over North America. After that I started my own taxi fleet. A partner of mine was presented an opportunity by another owner to purchase his existing fleet because he was retiring.  My partner pitched me the business opportunity.  I said yes.  One cab led to two cabs which led to four, and then to eight.  We currently have 15 cabs and 35 employees. Now I’m here doing the food coop.

My Business:  People 1st Food Coop

This is a food coop based out of Scarborough.  The market we are targeting are low income families that are tired of the food deserts and looking to add healthy alternatives to their weekly food selection.

It is a membership-based program. Members will have a selection of healthy, non-GMO (Genetically Modified Organism), pesticide-free food products.  We also plan to have cooking workshops on cooking healthier and classes on vegan cooking.
