Weed out the Risk

Weed Out the Risk – An anti-crash course on Cannabis and Driving (WOTR), is an interactive, harm reduction based, educational program which informs youth and young adults about the risk associated with driving high or being a passenger in a vehicle with a driver who is under the influence of cannabis.

WOTR’s weed education program, led by a trained facilitator, engages youth through interactive discussion, games, activities, and videos to dialogue openly with youth about how cannabis impairment affects one’s ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. It reviews the potential financial, legal, and social risks to be considered when faced with the choice to drive high or ride in a car with a cannabis-impaired driver.

The WOTR program educates youth using a harm reduction approach which is non-judgemental and inclusive of participants specific context. Each workshop uses games, discussion questions, videos, and scenarios to enhance the learning experience.

137,000 youth have participated in the program across Canada

89% of participants say they had a better understanding of how cannabis affects them after the program

9/10 participants said they had an increased awareness about the consequences of cannabis impaired driving.

84 % participants said they would recommend Weed Out the Risk to other young people.
