Springboard builds stronger communities by helping at risk and vulnerable youth and adults through critical transitions in their lives with a focus on community justice, employment and developmental disability services.

Who we serve:

We serve a diverse group of individuals, ranging from participants with developmental disabilities, individuals referred by the courts for diversion services to NEET youth and adults (Not in Education, Employment, or Training).

Our Goals:

Springboard supports the people we serve with their goals to develop skills and knowledge and connect them with needed community resources and supports.  This helps them feel more empowered to reach their personal goals.

Deborah Newman

Ms. Deborah Newman held the position of Deputy Minister in the Ontario Public Service for 10 years, serving as Deputy Minister for the following Ministries: Training, Colleges and Universities, Community Safety and Correctional Services. Ms. Newman also served on the expert panel mandated to provide recommendations to the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to strengthen residential services for children and youth. She was a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Ryerson University, in both the Department of Criminology and Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration Program.

Ms. Newman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Criminology from the University of Ottawa and is a graduate of both the Queen’s University Public Executive Program and the Directors Education Program at the Rotman School of Management, where she received her Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation.

Susan Steer

Ms. Susan Steer has many years of experience in various Operational and HR leadership roles. She has worked in the private sector as well as a large public/private partnerships in the Information Technology, Healthcare and Utility sectors. In her current role, Susan is a Senior Human Resources/Labour Relations Leader at Capgemini, an organization spanning several continents. Ms. Steer is a member in good standing with the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) and is currently pursuing her Leadership Certificate in Workplace Mental Health, Queen’s University.

Ms. Steer has received a Business Diploma with Honours from Humber College, Certificate, Labour Relations, Queens University and a Certificate in Labour Law from York University.

Agostino Russo

Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Teranet Inc.

Agostino is a Senior Executive providing strategic legal & business counsel. He is the Chief Legal Office & Corporate Secretary – Teranet INC since 2011.

He has a diverse 25 year employment history with progressive senior positions including Associate Lawyer, Torys LLP, legal counsel to the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, and Vice President & Legal Counsel, BCE INC.

He was called to the Bar of the Province of Ontario, 1991 and holds his Juris Doctor (J.D.) Faculty of Law, from the University of Toronto.

Antoni Wisniowski is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at RIOS Inc., a real estate industry operating system platform focused on the new housing development sector bringing innovation in data, workflow and business models. Antoni has more than 30 years of senior and executive management experience in and around the Public Sector.

Over 30 years experience in progressively challenging public service positions in Ontario as well as nationally. Extensive experience in planning, delivering and assessing Government of Canada programs and services. Many years experience on non-profit boards, developing governance processes, setting strategic priorities and ensuring quality programming.

Cheryl Tjok-A-Tam, MBA, is an accomplished business professional with many years of experience at organizations including AT&T Canada, IBM Global Services and RBC with sector experience in Technology, Consulting, Telecom and Finance. She has championed large, complex, multi-year operational initiatives demonstrating a natural aptitude for innovation and strategic transformation while exercising a balance of speed to market and the best interest of clients. In her current role, she supports the Chief Financial Office (CFO) business leaders to achieve their financial and strategic objectives.  This is done through leveraging program management best practices for the execution of the portfolio of global CFO strategic change initiatives.

Cheryl is widely recognized as a change agent through fostering meaningful dialogue of diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging for all.  She is the bank executive co-chair of a grass-roots, employee led initiative endeavoring to support the career progression of Black professionals and mentorship of youth.

Jeff King

Mr. Jeff King is a partner in Accounting Advisory Services at KPMG where he provides technical accounting advice to companies implementing new standards or dealing with complicated transactions.

Mr. King holds a Bachelor’s degree of Mathematics in Honours Chartered Accountancy (Co-operative Program with Distinction) and a Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Waterloo. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.

As a thought leader in Practice Management and Role Design, he works to enhance Practice Management Frameworks and the skillsets of the staff who implement them. In his personal life, Jeffrey is engaged in a lot of volunteer work and of particular note, has established a fund for an annual scholarship at Seneca College to remove barriers to education for at-risk youth.

As Managing Partner, Kevin Jeewan leads Lannick’s Client Services teams to build solid relationships with clients across the Greater Toronto Area. Before joining Lannick, Kevin held several roles with Dyson Canada – from Controller to Director of National Accounts – where he played an integral role in the company’s rapid growth and success. He also held positions with two of the Big Four accounting firms, an international recruitment firm and a large media and entertainment company.

A culture carrier, Sudha Dwivedi is responsible for leading Teranet’s global HR team. She is a passionate champion of inclusion and diversity, ensuring Teranet is a progressive workplace where everyone has a seat at the table and that all voices are heard. Sudha specializes in creating large-scale employee engagement and development programs that bring Teranet’s culture of continuous learning to life throughout the employee’s tenure with the company. Sudha implements talent management strategies that drive the achievement of Teranet’s business goals.

Before joining Teranet, Sudha was Director of Human Resources at a Fortune 500 leading medical technology company. She was a member of the Canadian Leadership Team, providing strategic counsel to all levels of the organization on pertinent areas including employee relations, succession planning, talent acquisition, learning and development and overall organizational effectiveness.

Wendy Leaver

Occupation:

Detective & Co Founder Special Victims Unit, Toronto Police Service (retired).

Springboard:

Ms. Leaver joined the Toronto Police Service in 1975 and a Detective with the Sex Crime Unit since 1991. She is broadly recognized as an expert in advancing evidence informed services and programs for victims of sexual assault of women and children including the development of courses and training in these highly specialized areas.

Ms. Leaver’s work and leadership with the Women’s Initiatives Committee of the Rotary Club of Toronto helped support Covenant House’s startup of a transitional home for girls and young women wanting to exit the sex trade.

Ms. Leaver has a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Marianoplis College and a Certificate in Social Work from Ryerson University.
